You will not be surprised to learn that “Slay” adventures center around killing things.
Start by rolling on the table below.
“So, What Are We Slaying Today?”
Roll 3d6. (Need a die roller?)
3-7 |
Slay the beast! This is a single very dangerous monster rated at [Peril +1+N/2]! It’s not in a Dungeon – you just need to find it and kill it. |
8-10 |
Cut them off at the head! Kill the leader of a group of villains or monsters. Roll for a Villain/Monster type, and then generate a Town, Wilderness, or Dungeon adventure that features that Villain/Monster. The Goal is the leader. The leader is alone, but rated at [Peril+N/2]. |
11-12 |
Collect the bounty! There’s a bounty that can be collected for each target of a particular type slain at a particular location. Roll for a Villain/Monster type, and then generate a Town, Wilderness, or Dungeon adventure that features that Villain/Monster. This is one case where the normal hard numbers for Rewards don’t apply. Instead, proven kills are rewarded with $5xPerilxPeril per head. Low Rates are half this; Excellent Rates are double. |
13-15 |
Eradicate the vermin! Kill all targets of a certain type at a certain location. Roll for a Villain/Monster type, and then generate a Town, Wilderness, or Dungeon adventure that features that Villain/Monster. You can only be certain you’ve succeeded once you’ve explored the site very thoroughly. |
16-18 |
Exterminate everything! Kill all target of all kinds at a particular location. Generate a Town, Wilderness, or Dungeon adventure, and kill everything in it. This is fairly challenging: it involves exhaustively checking every corner. |
|
Now determine the target (or targets). You can simply invent a story-appropriate target, or roll for a random Villain or Monster.
