These tables allow you to make a variety of giant and monstrous spiders.
Start with the basic spider-kin template, then roll for the spider’s other traits, as they become apparent to the PCs – not before! Rolls against suitable skills (Hidden Lore: Spider-Kin, for instance) can determine some things in advance – generally, one trait per two points of success.
The Basic Spider-Kin Template
- Combat Reflexes
- Sharp Claws (thr cut damage)
- Sharp Teeth (thr-1 cut damage)
- Extra Arms (2) (thus, four arms)
- Extra Legs (2) (thus, four legs)
- Horizontal
- Ham-fisted
- Monstrous appearance
- A range of social disadvantages.
- Brawling and Wrestling at DX

When the Spider Attacks
Does the Spider have a Web Attack?
Roll 3d6 and add Peril. (Need a die roller?) On a 13+ the spider has a binding web attack. This is a melee attack, used in C range. Its ST is 7+ peril; the spider can layer the binding for +1 ST per turn. It prevents all action (engulfing) and is only vulnerable to burning, corrosion, and cutting attacks.
Is the Spider Poisonous?
Roll 3d6 and add Peril. (Need a die roller?) On a 13+ the spider has a poisonous stinger.
The stinger is a melee attack, used in C range. It does (Peril/2) dice of damage, rounding up. This damage is (pi-), so anything that penetrates DR is halved.
The poison does (Peril/2) dice of toxic damage, rounding up. This is a follow-up attack, so no DR applies. Targets can resist it with a roll against (HT+2-Peril).
Onset Time: If poisoned, roll 3d6 and add Peril. (Need a die roller?) On a 14 or less, you have 1 minute before the poison takes effect. Lucky you!
Ongoing Effects: If poisoned, roll 3d6 and add Peril. (Need a die roller?) On a 13 or more, the poison will cause damage again in additional cycles. A resistance roll is allowed each time.
13 | Daily |
14 | Hourly |
15-16 | Each Minute |
17-18 | Every 10s |
19+ | Every second |
After each cycle, roll 3d6 and add Peril. (Need a die roller?) On a 13 or less, the poison has no further effects.
